POETRY
The thirsty earth soaks up the rain,
And drinks, and gapes for drink again.
The plants suck in the earth and are
With constant drinking fresh and fair.

Do you log activities on a device?
In our family we do.
I Have an Apple Watch for my triathlon training and specifically swim workouts. This watch keeps track of my heart rate and laps swam, as well as gps, and many other features. It simplifies my life therefor it was worth the investment. Through the phone and apps and my watch my workouts are loaded onto my workout apps and keeps track of my activities. The workouts I log go onto Strava and Burn to Give Apps.
My Partner uses a Garmin watch to log all of his Triathlon Workouts
And each of our daughters also log thier workouts.
I programmed my watch to input my activity into Burn to Give when I initially learned about this organization.

The Scoop from Project Bread.
On the Front Lines of Feeding Kids While Schools are Closed
Project Bread has been working with the Massachusetts Department of Education and local partners to help make sure kids are able to get school meals during closures. Here we get a sense of what this looks like on the ground as we hear from the front line heroes keeping families fed in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adaptability is the Key
Project Bread's Chef Sam Icklan worked with the Chicopee school district in those first few weeks and said that their original plan on Friday, March 13, was just to get through the next few days.
"We arrived at the cafeteria at 6AM and managed to produce breakfasts and lunches for Monday and Tuesday all in one morning." Chef Sam helped them reestablish their production method for something completely new as they moved out chairs and set up lines of tables. "We set out each part of the meals and sent them down the lines."
Midway through that first week, Chef Sam said he realized that schools were going to be closed for a month "and there was all this fresh produce that needed to be used, so I worked with staff to create entree sized salads to use lettuce, broccoli, eggs, salad dressing, and so on. We offered as extra to the meals and were even able to offer it to parents so it didn’t end up in compost."
As the numbers of kids and families coming to the meal site kept increasing, Chef Sam and the cafeteria staff kept refining, going from one delivery day to three, and then adding a Friday so meals for the weekends could be handed out. "It was the super flexibility and adaptability of the staff and nutrition directors that ultimately got everything off the ground and running in a way that meets the real needs of the community."

Food today. Food security tomorrow.
In a country that wastes billions of pounds of food each year, it's almost shocking that anyone in America goes hungry. Yet every day, there are millions of children and adults who do not get the meals they need to thrive. We work to get nourishing food – from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers – to people in need. At the same time, we also seek to help the people we serve to build a path to a brighter, food-secure future.

tips for making cooking with kids successful.
from Real Simple. As for chemistry, the low-sugar recipes in Half the Sugar, All the Love can inspire conversations on our favorite topic: food science. Why does the texture of banana bread change when you take out the sugar? Have fun researching together with your kids—recipes can bring great conversations to life. If you’re trying to figure out how to keep your kids learning in this distance-learning environment, cooking can be a delicious way to do it. Beyond the lessons, there’s an additional silver lining. “We are all spending more time cooking these days, so why not turn it into an opportunity for some quality family time together?" says Tyler Lee. "It’s the blessing of this situation and a chance to turn a challenging time into positive memories for our kids.”

Talk about how we can help others while you make a meal with your family.

Much of the world eats soup for breakfast lunch and dinner.
It is hard for many people around the globe to store food due to their living conditions.

They may live in a one room hut.
They may live in a refugee camp or a village in a place where there is no running water, refrigeration, no stove or kitchen.
Some live without access to libraries, schools, stores, or bathrooms with toilets ever, just to name a few luxuries some of the developed world takes for granted.

Making soup is an inexpensive and nutritious way to eat.
Add whatever you have, a little oil, sauté, onion, garlic or other. Add vegetables, chicken, fish, beef, or pork, tofu, or any protein you have on hand. Add water, bring to a boil and simmer, and you have a meal.

Make sure you have a trusted Adult to help you.
Be careful not to get burned. Clean up and put away when you are done.
Look in the Fridge, cupboard, or wherever you keep everything.
What items do you have?
MAKE A LIST for anything you don’t have and plan a trip to get these ingredients safely.

What can you make with what is available?

This could be a grilled cheese, tuna and pasta with tomatoes,
A protein, starch, and vegetable makes a meal.
Fiber, protein, and fat for each meal.

To you have something to make bread?
