ORIGIN
late 16th century (originally denoting a person who supported a great burden): via Latin from Greek Atlas, the Titan of Greek mythology who supported the heavens and whose picture appeared at the front of early atlases.

I heard the word atlas in reference to other things yesterday.
What else can the word Atlas be used to describe?

Find a place you’d like to go on a road trip.
Calculate the cost of the trip.

Car rental or wear and tear on your car. Usea rate of $0.25/mile. ($0.25xmiles that need to be driven there and back to your home.)
  1. Cost of anything you would need to buy for the trip, I.e. toiletries, suitcase, clothing, hat, gear? Beach or Mountain climbing, whatever your interests are there is a cost to those items.
  2. Fuel for the vehicle, car, smaller and less fuel vs. Camper, more fuel, How large is the tank in your vehicle? How much does it cost to fill, how many Gallons/Litres will it cost to fill your Tank x how many miles you will need to drive.
  3. Hotel/camper/camping and overnight charges, wood for a fire, sleeping bag, tent for a campground
  4. Food, hot dogs? Grill? s'mores?
  5. Any other items you come up with that you will need.
  6. What time of year will you travel?
  7. Plan your trip and draw a picture of your family and the moments you anticipate having.
  8. Share these after dinner and play a game, Cards, Cribbage, Chess, Bingo, Dominos, Monopoly, or whatever you like to play.
If you have the time you could pack and camp at home in the living room or other for an adventure for the weekend. Be safe. Make sure a trusted adult is part of the planning.
