Use the Date, time of year, How many days we have been in Quarantine as discussion points.



Subject matter spans across subject titles. Pick any that apply to your home. 
This could be today's, a semester, or years worth of discussion points or topics to learn. Pick one at a time or more, use and share freely. 


1. Morning Meeting. Many opportunities to bring curriculum into the discussion and go on with throughout your day. 
Start with breakfast.
Talk about the nutritional values of the food you are eating. 
Research what vitamins are in each food. i.e. in Vegetables, which nutrients do they contain?
Fruits?
Grain/carbohydrates,  Breakfast Bars, The ingredients on the Cereal box, How much sugar does each contain? 
What is an acceptable amount of each nutrient for each day?
For the weight of the person, age?
What nutrients are added? Is the food Organic (Certified to be Pesticide free, from seed to table, what does that mean?) Or Conventionally grown, how have these products changed in the last 50 Years?
From Collecting seeds.
Historically, before seeds were put in packages for sale, how did people...
FARM? This is a good time to start a container garden, order some seeds, watch and document the process (science lab) or a walk locally 
FIELD TRIP. looking for shoots and flowers and finding out what they are. City, country or forest. 
Be careful to bring a map, phone, map out and tell someone where you are going, 
Wear your mask, wash hands, etc, when you get home.

How are they ground, or grains ground? nuts? nut butters? produced or made.
Produced for the Market?
The supply chain,
How did the product go from the ground, or Farm to your Table? 
What was the cost of that journey? 
Where was it's origin in our world? 
some berries come from California, Florida, Mexico, Chile, South America. Meat, chicken, fish, lamb, pig, cow, etc. USA, or where was the origin of the Products Growth? What is TOFU? How is it made from soybean to soy cake?
How did it travel to your mouth? Hands that collected, to Boxes and Pallettes, Trucks, Planes, trains, etc.
Each of these topics can be turned into a project. Go with what interests your students.
Do you take Vitamins? Flouride? A protein Shake? What is in them?
Proteins.
What are sources, how are the raised, why do we eat them? What do they bring to our energy as humans?

Chores unloading dishwasher/drainer, putting them away, cleaning up your eat in area. 

2. Language Arts. Breakfast meeting, Social Studies. If your household watches the morning news this is a good time to read the newspaper quietly and discuss Current events.
After breakfast.
Write a story. One of My friend's daughter's started writing a series on Toast, butter, Jam and Breakfast Adventures.
Find what you think is age appropriate.
Writing prompts are:
What did you learn yesterday, today, this week?
If you are reading a book, What did the last chapter you read teach you?
Explain a picture book for younger students or if your child struggles with writing, or draw a picture.

3. Making Coffee.
The process.
2. Cleaning the house.
What is in a cleaner?
What does Baking Soda and Vinegar do when mixed?
Anything you use in your household can be used for a teachable Moment.

3. Math
Do any math related activity.
How many bowls, plates, forks, knives, etc. Did we use yesterday?
The cost of a trip to the Grocery store? Car, Milage, Gas?
How much does dish detergent cost?
A family Budget is a great activity. 
Bring in Conservation and how to cut back and Save money.
Talk about Food and the cost. How can a family save money. 
List 5 ways.
Make a poster like the Water cycle Poster in the Header.

4. Social Studies. Discuss how Corona Virus has affected China, Italy, Spain, the New York, US cities and how the virus has grown from 1 person to Hundreds of thousands.
The restrictions and how some countries are relaxing restrictions and the way they are starting to reopen and go towards something we think is more "normal."
How has this virus changed our lives?
What have you learned?
About Viruses?
Thier infection and how the disease is shared?
How it has spread?
How do we arrest that spread?

6. Energy. What sources are needed to clean your house. 
Does physical energy (What we use in food energy and activity, sleeping? etc.) apply to this number?

7. Computer. Apps, create a pictorial essay, or a movie.
How do Computers make our lives easier? Harder?

8. History.
Describe what you think it was like to grow up when your parents did, Grandparents? Where they lived and what amenities they had? Great Grandparents?
Generational difference, geographical differences.How did these factors shape their ancestors actions and influence their job choices and where they migrated to?
